New York Love

New York City is one of my favorite cities. Let's be honest, though. It's pretty much my absolute favorite. The food, the culture, the vibe, all of it.
Our most recent trip to New York City was one of the best trips. We went with my in-laws (their first time), which made the trip even more special. We love planning trips, and getting to plan one for someone else is so fun!
We stayed in a 2 bedroom AirBnB in Soho which was the perfect location -- right above a bar and a few blocks away from Greenwich Village.
We flew into NYC late evening, and after settling in, went straight to Mamoun's. Had our go-to; a falafel sandwich and shawarma with the hot red sauce. No brainer. And it's soooo cheap. We then headed to the Comedy Cellar which is another no brainer and one of our favorite things to do. We ended up going there another night too because we can never get enough!
Our first full day in NYC was filled with more delicious food. First stop was Momofuku Noodle Bar. The pork buns were killer and lived up to the hype. The ramen was so disappointing. Considering ramen is my favorite food group, I was so surprised that I couldn't even finish the bowl. Should've ordered another round of pork buns!

After a day of exploring, we headed back to the AirBnB to get ready for dinner!
Dinner was amazing. We went to Torishin, a delicious Japanese yakitori restaurant that has a Michelin star. We had the chef's Omakase menu which I would definitely recommend. So many different skewers of meat and some that I doubt I'd order on my own (I'm looking at you chicken intestine and chicken liver). Also veggies, a rice dish, and dessert. Go to this restaurant! You won't be disappointed and won't leave hungry!

Next day was filled with...*surprise*...more food! Oh, and a Broadway show, of course.
I was probably the most excited for this day, because we were going to explore a new part of the city and eat everything! Que Taste Harlem's Historical Food Tour! I honestly can't say enough good things about this tour. The owner of the company, and our guide for the day, Jacqueline, was so enthusiastic and gave us a great introduction to Harlem. And the food. The FOOD. I'll always dream of Sylvia's fried chicken and homemade biscuits. Also visited a tea shop, the Apollo theatre, and had great bbq and Senegalese food.

Chicken and Waffles at Sylvias.

After our food coma, we headed to Broadway for Dear Evan Hansen!

For our final day in NYC, we headed to Brooklyn for a Best of Brooklyn Food Tour with FoodsofNY. We rode around in a comfortable bus and had lots of great food. Meatballs, falafel, polish food, pizza, and desserts! The meatballs and falafel were top notch, but the polish restaurant exceeded my expectations. So good. My husband loved the pizza and said it was one of the best slices he's ever had!

Because it was a beautiful day and we needed to walk off all the food we just devoured, we walked back across the Brooklyn Bridge. Everyone else seemed to have the same idea because the crowds. Oh the crowds. But no regrets; it was a memorable way to end an amazing trip.
